Hermès to Launch Furniture and Textiles at Milan 2011

The most awaited furniture and design exhibition which takes place in Milan, Italy will be celebrating its 50th birthday. During this event most manufacturers and designers worldwide will showcase this year’s trends and new creations.

This year French luxury brand Hermès will launch its first furniture range during the Salone Del Mobile which will be taking place between April 12th till 17th, 2011.

In addition to the furniture line, Hermes in collaboration with Italian textile manufacturer Dedar,  will be presenting a range of home fabrics, wallpaper and carpets.
Under the label of newly formed venture Faubourg Italia, this line will go on sale in Hermès as well as Dedar outposts in May, which is good news as we will be receiving it in Kuwait as well.

Artistic director Pierre-Alexis Dumas has teamed up with designers including Enzo Mari, Denis Montel, and Antonio Citterio to create furnishings, furniture and accessories that will be available in select Hermès stores this fall.

Hermès will re-release certain iconic pieces that Jean-Michel Frank designed in 1924.Among them is the Confortable armchair, a straw-marquetry screen, a shagreen-covered vanity and the designer’s X-base dining table.

Previously, the company’s furniture was limited to Pippa, a small collection by the architect Rena Dumas, who designed Hermès stores and who was married to Jean-Louis Dumas, the chairman of Hermès from 1978 to 2006.

  2. Hi! Very nice feature on the new Hermes store and home collection. However, I just wanted to bring to your attention that while the fabrics and wallpapers are a collaboration with Dedar, the carpets are a collaboration with American artists Brad Davis and Janis Provisor of Fort Street Studio.
    Thanks,
Tim O’Rourke – Fort Street Studio
