Is This the Future of Banks? | BNP Paribas New Concept

A very unique concept for BNP Paribas in Paris was created by architect Fabrice Ausset from Zoevox. The last thing that came to my mind when viewing these photos that they would be of a bank. This bank looks more like a hotel lobby, what made it interesting was the attention to detail and the stylish furniture used from various well known designers.

This concept bank is located in the historical building of 2, Place de l’Opéra. The first element that catches the eye is the honeycombed ceiling and the use of mirrors, two elements closely related to the retro style of the 70’s and early 80’s. The combination of furniture is so funky and daring yet very inviting.

Info from the Cool Hunter:

“In ten specific zones, all regular banking functions from daily banking to stock-market info, private meetings, staff training can take place with the emphasis on breaking the age-old banking set-up where the client and the adviser (the teller, the banker) are on opposite sides.

All of this plus a temporary exhibition area dedicated to kids, a coffee bar, a  25 square-meter green, living wall set the tone for the unusual banking experience. Of course, such aspects as ergonomics, sustainability, proper lighting and the latest technology, are givens.

In addition to custom furniture and furnishings, Zoevox used furniture by Christophe Delcourt, Philippe Hurel, Paola Lenti, Christian Liaigre, India Mahdavi, Antonio Lupi (lavabo), Pierre Paulin and Philippe Starck,  and lighting by Sylvie Coquet, Adrien Gardère, Poul Henningsen, Marco Merendi, Karim Rashid and Patricia Urquiola. “

This is a bank I would definitely love to go to, though I’m not much of a bank person. I hope this could be the trend for the future.

  1. Wow! This is surely different! It feels more like a hotel than a bank,,that is for sure! But I’m not sure if the concept really works for me. If there is ONE place where I appreciate a serious, stoic feel..it’s at a bank. I want to know that they take handling my money seriously.
That being said, this could be the future, and the honeycomb ceiling is to die for!

  2. I have to say I really love this design, it certainly is miles away from the corporate boringness of banks today!
