Lladró … From Fantasy to Love and Birds
Lladró is a name synonymous with high quality porcelain figurines. The company was founded in 1953 by three brothers, Juan, José and Vicente Lladró, in the village of Almácera near Valencia. Starting with items such as vases and jugs, it wasn’t until 1956 that they started producing the sculptures for which they are now most famous. Enthusiasm for the items produced by the Lladró brothers saw their small workshop expand several times until eventually they moved to Tavernes Blanques in 1958.
Lladró has been collaborating with Jaime Hayon since 2005 which made him now their appointed artistic advisor.
The creations in The Fantasy collection which Jaime Hayon has designed for Lladró, mirror the perfect fusion between the artistic quality of the Spanish porcelain brand and the playful, fantasy quality the designer brings to his works. The balance between expression and function, the studied combination of Lladró’s usual themes and the magic of the unexpected that Hayon is known for, make these pieces truly original objects that, over and above their decorative potential, awaken a sense of fantasy in the beholder.
The Parrot Party is one of Lladró’s 2010 luxurious handmade collection collection focusing on details of birds from the parrot species. This is one of the most beautiful and elegant collections.
The Happy Seventies Collection, also issued in 2010 with most of them in a very limited number of pieces, either 500 or 1000 depending on design.
Lladro’s Christmas collection , the “Santa, I’ve been good” (limited edition 2000 pcs) and the Cherub of love (limited edition 3000 pcs) are new additions to the collection among others.
